Return to Origin | One-Hundred-Word Story

This is the fourth and final installment in The Inconvenient Apocalypse. If you missed the previous parts of Sarah’s cosmic breakfast saga, catch up on Part 1: Off Script, Part 2: Extinction with a Side of Coffee, and Part 3: The Binary Breakfast.

Bernie’s Log — Stardate 2312: The humanoid who identifies as Sarah is unable to acclimate to our binary system. Send back to time and place of origin.
Stardate 2026 — 8:02 AM: Sarah wakes up to the whimpering dreams of her dog, Mac. Groggy-eyed, she looks in the cupboard and finds her coffee, bagels, and bananas, right where they’re supposed to be. “Maybe I should switch things up with some fresh blueberries,” she muses. Sarah checks her social media feeds over breakfast, but something feels off. She deletes all of them except TikTok, where her cat, Chickie, is an influencer.

The End. 👽🤷‍♀️
