As Sam slow smokes some chickens he took from his flock, a cackle of the remaining free-range birds struts up.
Looking out the window, his wife giggles at the irony. A photo of the scene, with the hens holding signs in their beaks that say, “Eat more beef,” quickly goes viral.
Humans may like the humor, but the hens aren’t laughing. For them, this is a funeral pyre.
The next morning, when Sam goes to gather eggs, they all have holes pecked in them. Given a chance, the girls would also peck out his eyes.
It’s on like “Donkey Kong.”
